The cold is uncomfortable, it is relentless, it is merciless. It will always win and you can not beat it with grit and determination. To conquer the ice you must first surrender. Leave the ego and fear behind, strip back your pre-conceived ideas of what your body can handle and let your instincts take over.

We live in a state of cocooned comfort and as a consequence our systems and responses are out of balance. We evolved as a species that adapts in a positive way to short term acute stress, creating resilience and efficiency in how our bodies respond to external and internal stimulus. The stress we exist within is now toxic stress- it is often long-term, psychological as well as physiological and our bodies struggle to keep us in balance and equilibrium.

The cold re-sets our system completely. It brings about a fight-or-flight response but it is within our control to calm the mind, relax the body and surrender to the discomfort. A chain of chemical and electrical reactions occur within our body after only 2-3 minutes in the cold that promote a healthier and happier existence. You feel it, you grow from it, you take the empowerment and good health and transfer it over to your everyday life and be a better version of you!
