AMY PYSDEN & ISLAND ALIVE
To be on Kangaroo Island is to be reunited with a lifestyle that our bodies were designed for. Swimming in the oceans all year round, walking barefoot through the forests, feeling the seasons transition as the environment changes around you. Being reconnected to nature with this awareness, and feeling and appreciating your body as it finds it place in nature, is what transformed my life and made me who I am today.
We purchased this piece of property on the edge of Pelican Lagoon 10 years ago – knowing that it was incredibly unique, knowing we had to bring people here to experience the magic we had felt. At that time Amy was not a Wim Hof Method practitioner. But upon discovering the Method - the Island and specifically the property - lead her on a journey of interweaving the protocols into the power of nature that surrounds her.
Secluded beaches to do cold ocean swims in winter… seals and dolphins alongside! Mossy undergrowth to bury your fingers into while breathing under a canopy of trees. Trails and hikes along rugged terrain to challenge the mindset. And often, with not a soul to be seen. Nature is the guide, holding the space, teaching the power of unpredictability and the need for respect. It nurtures you. And you begin to reconnect. This is your opportunity to reconnect too!
It takes time to transition into “Island Time”. Slow the pace so the senses reawaken. Be in an environment so you begin to truly know it. During a visit to Island Alive you find a sense of stillness within the native pine forest. The wildlife interacts with you. You trust the tread of your bare foot upon the mossy undergrowth. As we move through the process of exploring our surroundings, we open. As we open we begin to feel. We notice things and the awareness become internal as well as external.
The incredible pristine, uncluttered nature of the Island means we breathe the purest air, we swim in the cleanest ocean, we have space to explore, to adventure and re-wild the spirit! The Island offers the opportunity for experiences that are so incredibly unique, in an environment that is one of a kind. We can't wait to welcome people to the retreat space and Island Life!
